Washable Air Filters Are a Better Choice

Some purchases in life are “need” based and some are on a “want” level. It is often hard to decipher between the two. What you think you need is often what you really want. An air filter, however, is not something you want. It is not a frivolous purchase—it’s something you truly need. The problem is that because you have to replace your filter every three months the cost can become substantial. The average price of a filter can range from eight to fifteen dollars each. That means that you end up spending about sixty dollars a year on air filters. Another cheaper, more economical option is reusable air filters.

Why Are Washable Air Filters Better?

There are many advantages to washable air filters. Here are a few.
  • Reusable air filters cost a one-time fee of around $70 to $110. While you end up paying the same amount as a year’s worth of disposable filters, you need to look at it as an investment. Even though you are paying sixty dollars this year, because you have washable air filters, you will never have to buy more filters again. That means you are saving sixty dollars a year after that initial payment.
  • When buying a disposable filter, you need to remember the dimensions of the filter and the brand of appliance it is going in to. You can accidently buy the wrong one and have to go back to the store and return the other one. It’s added stress that you just don’t need. Washable air filters eliminate that extra stress.
  • Many companies are so confident in their reusable air filters that they offer lifetime warranties. That means you are guaranteed to never have to purchase another air filter again.
  • Cleaning the filter is easy and convenient. All you need to do is take the filter out and spray it thoroughly with a hose to wash off the dust and dirt. You can also vacuum the filter if you don’t have easy access to a hose. Then you just replace the clean filter in the same spot you took it from.
  • During allergy season, you can clean the filter more often to get rid of pollen. This can help you with respiratory problems as well.
